Thank you to LOPD Officers for protecting Old Town residents
The top priority for Old Town Lake Oswego residents, based on our October 2026 neighborhood survey, is George Rogers Park and Old Town summer livability.
Our second priority is ensuring adequate funding for police and fire departments to maintain rapid emergency response.
Our residents appreciate the proactive, community-focused service provided by Lake Oswego Police Department (LOPD) Community Service Officers (CSOs). We see them patrolling our neighborhood to discourage speeding, improve traffic and pedestrian safety, and ticket illegally parked vehicles.
We see you. We appreciate you. And on behalf of the Old Town Neighborhood Association Board, we want to publicly THANK YOU!

Our neighbors have noticed the difference these officers make:
“In one weekend this summer, Unity wrote 22 tickets. Yay!”
“Everyone knows Corey. He grew up in LO and has seen all the change at George Rogers Park and in our neighborhood. He cares about keeping us safe.”
“Cole is always smiling and helping people. And giving tickets, too!”
“We’ve heard that Drew is known in the department as ‘The Ticketinator.’ He’s efficient and protective of us as he writes tickets and tells people where they can and can’t park.”
These officers are helping make our neighborhood safer and more livable, especially during the busy summer months.

Recognizing LOPD’s Leadership
We also want to recognize three LOPD leaders who have worked directly with our neighborhood.
Sergeant Earl Hall leads the CSO team. He has joined our neighborhood walkabouts and attended a neighborhood meeting. We appreciate his collaborative approach and his willingness to work with us on Old Town’s concerns. He's been responsive and proactive in making Old Town more livable during the busy summer months.
Lieutenant Mike Scott was especially helpful when a man was sleeping in his vehicle on several different streets in our neighborhood. He briefed officers on the situation and even called me on his day off to explain the applicable ordinances. We appreciated his responsiveness and his efforts to help us understand the City's rules.
Police Chief George Burke leads LOPD, and I had the opportunity to serve on the City's interview panel when it selected a new police chief. Our panel unanimously agreed that George Burke was the best candidate for the job, and he was hired. Chief Burke emphasized the importance of having a police presence at community events as a proactive way to help protect residents and visitors. I’ve seen that commitment in action. He seems to be everywhere, including the Fourth of July parade!

We also want to thank the call center dispatch team
The non-emerency and emergency call center dispatch team who field so many calls from our neighborhood are always helpful and responsive.
A Special Shout-Out to Ranger Ben LaBounty!
We also want to give a HUGE SHOUT-OUT to Ranger Ben LaBounty!
Ben is always smiling and ready to help. He’s excellent at defusing difficult situations and explaining rules and laws in a friendly, effective way. We appreciate the calm, approachable presence he and the other park rangers bring to George Rogers Park and our neighborhood. Ben and the other rangers are also connected through LOPD’s dispatch service, helping them coordinate when situations require assistance.

Thank You for Being There LOPD and Rangers
To all the LOPD officers, CSOs, and park rangers who help protect our neighborhood and make it a safer place to live: Thank you for your service, your responsiveness, and your partnership with Old Town Neighborhood Association and our residents.
We notice your efforts, and we’re grateful for all you do!
