George Rogers Park Needs Attention!
What about investing in improving George Rogers Park (vs. focusing so much $$$ on new Parks)? This is the City's "Gem of a Park". It needs to be updated.
What about a "walk about" field trip for the Parks Advisory Board to see with your own eyes what condition the park is in? Especially the "entrance" to the park off Ladd Street between the tennis courts and fields that so many people use when coming for events and games. Hint: it's not safe. It's not pretty. It's not ADA compliant.

What about getting the City to repave Ladd Street that is right next to the Park? The street is in terrible condition from water erosion.

What about investing in buying or renting the commercial properties on Ladd Street so there is more parking for ALL the people who come to use the park for "the beach" and the locals who come to use the park for all the other reasons?
What about "balancing" and "shifting" park visitors to get more people to go to Foothills, Roehr or other parks in the summer where there is enough parking?
What about asking the awesome Park Rangers and Park Maintenance Crew to come to one of your meetings to share their experiences with park visitors in the summer? And to hear their recommendations?
We are so grateful for Josh and Rick who clean up the mess left at the "beach" and Park. And our wonderful park Rangers Ben and Indra.

What about adding pathways that are usable for people using strollers or in wheelchairs? Most of the paths now end in dirt or stairs. See photos below:
What about focusing on making parking and walking with kids and a stroller safer for people visiting the playground, especially in the busy summer months?

What about coming up with a vision and master plan for GRP? There used to be one! And it "went away". Why?
What about offering locals designated parking spaces with permits so they can park near the fields and enjoy the park they fund? (Shasta Lake does this)
What about closing the park when it's overloaded like Sauvie Island does?
Or funding shuttles in the summer like is done for the Arts Festival?
Look what Portland is doing for Forest Park? This is a pilot program
What about fixing the "Sister City" sculpture/play structure that has been broken and left with a fence around it for more than a year?

We love George Rogers Park.
Let's invest in updating and maintaining it please.
So you know, here's what the park is like in the summer:
