We're your neighbors, friends and volunteers who serve as elected leaders on the Old Town Neighborhood Association Board. Our goal is to be the "voice of the neighbors" to the City of Lake Oswego to improve the tranquility and livability of our wonderful neighborhood. We also want to foster community and friendships.

Core Responsibilities of the Board

Organizing Events and Building Community

We plan events such as:

  • Social gatherings like block parties and the National Night Out

  • The neighborhood Annual Meeting in October

  • Monthly Board Meetings

Communicating with Residents

We aim to keep Old Town residents informed and engaged by:

  • Writing blog posts and updating our website

  • Sending newsletters or emails

  • Hosting regular board meetings open to residents

  • Talking to neighbors to gather your feedback

Serving as a Point of Contact

We act as a liaison between the neighborhood and our Lake Oswego City leaders, including Parks & Rec, the Police and fire departments, traffic/engineering as well as the City Manager and City Council. We advocate for the neighborhood’s needs and help resolve issues that individual residents may struggle to address alone.

Budgeting and Finances

The board creates and manages the neighborhood’s annual budget and fundraising.

Why It Matters

A strong neighborhood association board can make a huge difference in the quality of life in a community. We aim to help foster a sense of belonging, and ensure that the neighborhood remains a safe, attractive, and enjoyable place to live.

Want to Get Involved?

We're always looking for new members or volunteers. Whether you want to take a leadership role or just help out occasionally, your involvement can make a real impact. Plus, it's a great way to meet your neighbors and stay informed about what’s going on around you. Elections are held at the October annual meeting. Nominations are taken from the floor. You can also attend our monthly Board Meetings, get to know us and how we operate and be nominated to become a Board director.

We keep asking our neighbor Doug Thomas to join our Board and he keeps saying he's happy volunteering as our website Editor. We're very grateful for Doug's expertise, sense of humor and active participation.

Betsy Wosko, who was our neighborhood association Chair for the past 6 years (thank you Betsy) and is still on our Board shared this important information about who can become a Board member. "I verified that any resident may be on the old town board. Doesn’t need to be a property owner. The applicable definition of bylaws is in our NA is, under Article III, Membership and Boundaries:

Section 1. All persons who are eighteen (18) years of age or older, and who either reside, own property, operate a non-profit organization or own a business located within the boundaries of the Association.

Regarding elections to the board, the applicable provision is, under “Article VI, Elections”:

Section 2. Eligibility – only persons eligible for Old Town Association membership shall qualify to hold an elected or appointed position.

Reading these two sections together, the only limitation on serving on the board is that a person be a member of old town neighborhood. Member is defined as those who either reside, own property, operate a nonprofit, or own a business within an old town. Therefore, anyone renting can serve on the board. "

We hope to see you around the neighborhood and town.

We want to be our neighborhood voice to the City so please reach out to any of us.
