Why to Vote YES for the Southshore Fire Station Bond

Please get informed about this bond issue for Lake Oswego. It will impact us in Old Town about getting the fastest possible response for medical emergencies as well as for fires. Why? Because if the Southshore Fire Station is not updated and has to be closed, the Fire Department will be sending emergency help from the downtown LO station which is often negatively impacted by the train schedule and back up from that. The paramedics from the Southshore Station can get to our neighborhood the most quickly in an emergency.

We also want to make sure our fire department team are SAFE themselves from contamination from electrical fires (all those electric vehicles and bikes put off dangerous fumes when they catch on fire).

We also love the wonderful people - men and women - who work for our Fire Department don't we? Yes we do!

We also owe a HUGE thanks to JT from the fire department who joined our neighborhood "walk about" and heard neighbors concerns about whether an ambulance could get to them/their home in an emergency on a day when the streets are crowded with cars and people in the summer coming and going to George Rogers Park. JT offered to bring the big ladder fire truck through the neighborhood on a weekend hot day and he did just that with his colleagues two days later on a hot Sunday afternoon. They drove the truck down every street in Old Town and into the park. They had a drone capture the "test drive". Would sure love to see that! Their report was that they could get the Fire truck down the streets so they could get an ambulance which is smaller. THANK YOU LO Fire Department!

And thank you Chris Durkee who is the Palisades Neighborhood Association Chair and part of the team working on educating neighbors throughout LO about the importance of voting YES on the upcoming bond. See information he sent us below.
