The 157-year-old icon of Lake Oswego--the Iron Smelter in George Rogers Park--is set for a cleaning starting the week of October 16, 2023. Robin Krakauer, the Communications Coordinator for LO Parks & Recreation informed the Old Town Neighborhood Association this week. A contractor will be on-site for roughly a week and a half. This is considered scheduled maintenance and a State Historical Preservation Office (SHPO) requirement. The previous cleaning took place in 2009 when the furnace was restored.
