If you're looking for a safe, fun place where your dog can play, socialize, and come home happily exhausted, you'll want to know about LexiDog. We take our longhair dachshund Walter there.
Located on State Street across from Lake Theater and next to Banfield Pet Hospital, LexiDog is much more than a dog daycare—it's truly a social club for dogs.
Safety Comes First
One of the things we appreciate most is that LexiDog doesn't accept just any dog through the front door. Every dog goes through a thoughtful screening process designed to ensure a safe, positive environment for everyone.
The process includes:
Completing registration forms
Providing current vaccination records from your veterinarian
Scheduling a temperament assessment to make sure your dog is comfortable around both people and other dogs
Attending an initial two-hour play session
Once your dog has successfully completed these steps, they're welcome to attend two-hour, half-day, or full-day play sessions. Overnight boarding is also available once your dog has become familiar and comfortable with the facility.
A Safe Place to Play
The dogs are always supervised by caring, dog-loving staff members.
We especially like that LexiDog recognizes that not every dog enjoys the same kind of play. Smaller dogs, senior dogs, and dogs who need a quieter environment have their own adjoining play areas where they can relax and socialize without feeling overwhelmed by larger, more energetic dogs.
While you're waiting in the lobby, you can watch the dogs on live TV monitors showing the play areas upstairs. It's fun to see them having such a great time and it demonstrates this is a "social club". The dogs already there run or saunter up to welcome a newcomer and the staff orchestrates the integration of your dog into the group. Some dogs just walk around and hang out, others get the zoomies. One dog, a basset they told me is "the lifeguard" because he goes to the top of the stairs in the middle of the play area and "supervises" the other dogs below.
And when the dogs do their "business", a nice human cleans it right up.
Flexible Drop-Offs
One of the biggest conveniences is that we don't have to schedule social time in advance. Walter can be dropped off Monday through Saturday for:
Two-hour play sessions
Half-day visits
Full-day daycare
Monday through Friday, you can drop off or pick up your dog whenever it's convenient. (On Saturdays, there are no drop-offs or pickups between noon and 2:00 p.m.)
The staff knows all of the regular dogs by name, and they greet Walter like an old friend every time he arrives.

Ok, we love the "report card" we receive when we pick Walter up. Makes our day!

The entire team at LexiDog is welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly loves what they do.
The pricing is reasonable, the facility is clean, and—most importantly—we always leave knowing Walter has had a safe, happy day with his canine friends with people paying attention to him like we do at home.
Walter Also Gives LexiDog Two Paws Up
He gets to socialize with other dogs who don't attack him (as can happen at the dog parks).
He is very happy to go and very happy when we pick him up.
He's grateful to go home to take a nap on the couch.
