The Old Town Association Board sent the LO Police the following email on June 17, 2025
To: Earl Hall
Sergeant | Police Department City of Lake Oswego responsible for Community Policing
From: Old Town Neighborhood Association Board

THANK YOU for keeping our Lake Oswego community safe and being responsive to the citizens. We realize this isn’t the case in other communities and are very grateful for it.
We are writing to you because we need your help in our Old Town Neighborhood. Our normally quiet and peaceful streets become chaotic and unsafe on hot summer days because of the abundance of visitors to George Rogers Park (GRP).
OUR REQUEST
We appreciate the Police Department responding to our calls to the non-emergency number when we see issues that need intervention. However, we need more help please! We would like regular patrols on summer weekends and on weekdays when temperatures reach 80 degrees or higher in order to keep the neighborhood and visitors safe.
We see the following issues regularly on hot days:
People parking in marked no parking zones and not being ticketed.
People leaving the lower GRP parking lot on the marked one way street.
People parking partially in front of neighbors’ driveways so there is not enough room for them to enter, leave or park in their own driveway.
People blowing up paddleboards, kayaks and floaties on the neighborhood streets and sidewalks causing traffic backups.
These issues are currently seen primarily in the southern half of our neighborhood (from Church Street south). However, with public access to the lake, and the lack of public parking in the immediate area, street parking in the northern part of the neighborhood is increasing.
As the summer season is upon us, we would appreciate your immediate response so residents of Old Town can enjoy our beautiful neighborhood.
We would also like to invite you to join one of our neighborhood association board meetings and/or do a “walk about” with several of us to talk about other questions and concerns that are police related.
Thank you
